Hi guys,
I'm running my first malt whisky, and can't get the still to stop puking. I stopped the run and dumped some of the wash out so that the still is about 2/3 full, but it is still puking out the condenser. It is only a one gallon still, so I don't really want to go down to a half full charge. That would make this a really long and fairly pointless endeavor. I'm running really slow and added a little butter (I saw somewhere on here that it helps with foaming).
Could it be due to excess sugar left in the wash? I used Danstar Nottingham yeast, so there is still a little sugar left. Final gravity was 1.012.
Any thoughts? I've got four gallons of wash, so I'm not keen on doing eight 1/2 gallon stripping runs at five hours a piece!
Thanks!
Any way to stop puking still?
