stop lurking in the shadows

Post by rumbaba »

Hello everyone.
Normally content to trawl the pages looking for information, I thought I had better make at least one post by way of introducing myself. I came back from mining a couple of months ago and after the amount of money I spent on rum, I thought I would look into making my own. What a mine full of information. The resources available after a bit of research are amazing.
I purchased Smileys book and made an offset column still from his design. I have made several batches of rum already, experimenting with/without packing and with/without reflux. Touch wood, it all seems to be going well- tasty too.
By far the best resources I have found are the home distiller home page, Smileys Making Pure Corn Whiskey for the still, and the home distiller forum. I have not really been compelled to post any questions yet( I am sure that will change) because there is such a wealth of information on this forum that I usually can find it here.
Anyway, hello ,nice to be a part of this fantastic community and thanks to all the regular contributors who have been of invaluable assistance.
