You guys WILL like this book. You don't even need to be interested in science or physics to enjoy this book, it is written so perfectly that it would make a 10 year old with ADD sit up and listen.
He even explains why you americans say "Aluminum" instead of "Aluminium".
Give it a go, you'll love it!!!

bill bryson is the man. I read a walk in the woods and it was awesome.
