Feints
Quick (and probably stupid) question... I have recently had a few brandy runs and followed this with a wheat germ run. Can I throw all of those feints together and run them later or is it better to keep the "likes with the likes"?

Re: Feints
Hey rgreen2002. I'm wondering the same thing.
What I'm currently doing is keeping corn feints separate from wheat feints etc. But I believe I will eventually end up combining them all and doing an all-feints mixed run for the hell of it. Who knows, I might get something real nice out of that.
I don't think I'd mix fruit feints with grain feints, but who knows. I bet you'll get the same answer from most people on here, and that is... do what makes you happy

Re: Feints
Depends on what you want to do with the feints ...

Re: Feints
Mix them and run them, should make a good spirit.
I had a brandy I left too much heads, added that to a bourbon grain bill mash and it made a fantastic fruity drink.

Re: Feints
Thanks everyone! I think i will just start collecting, mix all together and run. Worst case scenario I get something un-drinkable....kinda what I have already anyway.

Re: Feints
It will be very drinkable, a lot of folks end up saying their mixed feints runs were some of their best. Just don't be over anxious to taste and pitch or blend give them some time to Mello out, and you may be surprised.rgreen2002 wrote:Thanks everyone! Re: Feints
Mine get all dumped in one collection jug. Then when I get enuf for a run I do a feints run with pretty loose cuts and put on oak and forget about it. I have all grain, ujssm, a couple brandies, and sum cereal sugar heads in the jug now. Gonna make one flavourful drop I think. That's what works for me.

Re: Feints
not to hijack,
what do you do with the feints of a all feints run?
when are feints no longer feints, 2-3 generations?

Re: Feints
I toss feints from an all feints run. But Im a potstiller. If you have a reflux still might be worth a crack running it tight to pull some neutral off? Its tough taking a good whiskey and running it a few more times to make Vodka, Neutrals for pantydroppers etc. Seems a little whacky.
In theory there's no difference between theory and practice. But in practice there is.
