Basil liquor

Post by shochu »

I was looking around to find some ideas about using my distilled rice wine (which, btw, I liked better as wine :) ) and I found some recipes using basil. I wanted to give it a try and I made my own.

- 100 ml of ~90% rice distillate (I guess you can use neutral and anything else with little taste)
- 8 basil leaves
- a tiny tiny piece of lemon peel (did I say it was tiny?)
- a teaspoon of honey (generic wildflower honey)

Let the basil+lemon+alcohol macerate for about one week.
Diluite to 45% ABV, add honey and dissolve it.

Drink young. :)

Taste notes: I'm no expert at all, but it has a pleasant taste of... well... basil (not a big surprise, I guess). So if you like basil give it a try. It's good after dinner...
Maybe start with a small amount to see how you like it. The color is really cool:
