Pressure

Post by Diesel410 »

Hey yall I was just sitting here thinking and I did a search and cAme up empty. I run a 15.5 gal keg with a 2 inch column and Liebig.(pot still) I have never had any issues thank god however I was curiouse if any of yall have a blow off valve of some sort on the boiler just in case pressure builds up? I don't know how pressure could build up but I was just thinking.

Unsoldered cap atop the column, parrot is vented and the product condenser is 1/2" If you need a relief valve you're already in deep trouble...on a number of levels.

Ugg ! I mean wow ! If you get a pressure issue with a pot still , you got a problem . Not doggin you . Just been there /done that . Got same size boiler and takeoff . My cap is a bit different than conventional keg stills and relies on a flour paste seal . Worked great until I added a same size thumper . Never had a serious over pressure . Just couldn't hold the seal for multiple runs until I laid cotton string around the flange and pasted over it . That and a lot of clamps cured my problem .

 Take this in jest as it was intended : perhaps you should leave the thinking part to those that are qualified to do it .
