well this is embarrassing

Post by cranky »

So last week I spent about 40 minutes hacking my way through the blackberry bushes to get a few feet closer to my favorite apple tree. All this effort netted me 45 of the best and sweetest apples I've ever tasted with the intention of pressing some more juice for my wife who loves this juice. So not thrilled with the amount but what can you do? I cored, chopped and ground the apples which got me about a gallon of pulp which I then froze for 2 days and thawed for 2 more and today it was ready to press. I grabbed one of my pressing bags which I had washed myself and began pressing as usual. I washed a couple of quart jars which I filled up with a little extra in a bottle. Then I poured a glass to take to my wife to show her I care but decided to take a sip first :wtf: This stuff tasted weird florally and soapy  I thought maybe I didn't get all the soap out of the jar, so I tried some out of the other jar, same thing, same from the bottle. So obviously it must be the bag. so I pull the bag and now dry pulp out of the press and sure enough the bag smells like laundry soap because apparently I shouldn't be allowed to touch the washer and my wife doesn't get any more of her special juice. Now I will have to go back and see if today's wind left anything in the trees and see if I can shake any loose to try again.
