Bocksin ?

I was looking online at my local wine makers store for supplies when I came across Bocksin. I never heard of it so I used my Google Foo to find out what it does. It's used to remove hydrogen sulfide from fermenting wines. This got be to thinking that it could be used for the same purpose with alcohol washes. I know some people still use turbo yeast which has the downside of producing lots of H2S. Oh, and no I don't plan on any experiments as i'm happy with my pugirum and ujssm.

Never heard of that either. Copper also removes sulfides, there shouldn't be any need to treat the wash before you run it unless your rig has little or zero copper in the vapor path. In that case I would just... add copper to the vapor path.

I've made some fruit wines and once a dandelion wine that had some very stubborn H2S problems, and was able to solve them with copper. The worst was the Dandelion wine, because the herbs and flowers were only there for flavoring, all of the fermentables came from regular table sugar, and the yeast became depleted of nutrients. I tried to aerate the wine to drive off the H2S with no result. So I siphoned the whole batch through a 15' length of very clean 1/4" copper tubing - instant success. I've heard of people having similar results by filling the bottom of the troubled fermenter with pennies.
I buy all my liquor at the hardware store.
