Advice for a conversion to VM/LM

Post by Danespirit »

I am in the middle of reconstructing my still a bit.
My plan is to make a conversion to VM/LM or CCVM/LM.
I already have a VM at hand and all the parts needed for a conversion.
Either solution will require some welding, but if i should make a few more welds or not, is not of any importance.
After some research and thinking i came up with two solutions to this and would like to see what your thoughts are about my ideas.
Any input or critique, will be appriciated.. :)
I borrowed a drawing for my first idea, as it will be almost exactly like this:

Second one is this:

A branch is going from the column to the valve (3/4") into a 90 bend (not yet arrived),and up to the LM part (My old condenserhousing for my VM)
The other way up the column is a VM takeoff branch and a refluxcondenser on top of that (running CCVM).
That way i would have some kind of "splittinghead" that runs LM completly shut off from the VM part. Question is,should i go for external reflux return or not?
Please ignore the branch roughly up halfways, it will be cut of and serve as a termoport.

Either solution, will be running with a bubbleplate beneath the column.
So..what do you think about the ideas?
