I keep ruining my mashing thermometers. I have been using cheap probe thermometers on a 3' wire ($10). I think water gets inside the thermocouple or the wire maybe gets damaged when I use a clip to hold it on the kettle or my cooler mash tun. I used to use a straight probe thermometer tied on a string, but that got old.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a good mashing thermometer?

I'm in the HVAC industry and have used Cooper Atkins products for years with excellent reliability and long life. This is the probe I use for mashing.

They are not cheap, you get what you pay for.

I have been looking at those K type probes. It appears the probe are interchangeable. That is what I have been eyeing.

Go to a brew shop and get a floating thermometer made of glass then drop it into the mash.
