Spirits Drinking Forum
Does anybody know if there is a large forum that is specifically about commercially made spirits and peoples reviews? They are pretty common for wine and I've seen some whiskey sites but they have almost no one on them. Any help would be great, thanks

kinda but not exactly
I was thinking more of a group of people that are analyzing spirits of all types through a multifaceted approach involving; tasting and nosing, cross comparison of similar products, identifying common themes in these products and working together to understand what causes these different elements to manifest in said spirits through their understanding of making spirits themselves.
ie one might think that a whiskey is out of balance due to excessive time in new oak or an over charred bbl.. I don't know I see forums like this about wine that talk about terriour(sp) and percentages of new oak to old oak in the blend as well all sorts of different elements they are trying to quantify in different ways to how it represents itself in the glass.
Thats what I am trying to find but for Spirits.

This isn't quite what you are looking for (apart from anything else he get virtually no comments at all), but he has a bunch of links (top right of page) that might help you.

http://www.whiskymag.com/forum/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow is one I read regularly. It covers the aged liquors mostly but there is some discussion of the other spirits.

well
I could add a forum for that, but I'm afraid my reviews of some of the products out there would be rather harsh compared to what most whiskey mags will print.

exactly
Thats what I'm interested in not the reviews of a critic that is working for a magazine generating all its capital from ads for the spirits he is reviewing(they can't bad mouth anything then), but a group of drinkers and zealots who aren't concerned with what this or that critic gave said 18 year old scotch as a rating.

I'm still not finding exactly what I looking for in these links(although I will continue to read them). I wonder if it exists?

I read that one a lot too. It has sections for non-bourbon spirits. They have some good international conversations about spirits and bourbon. I have posted my collection of master distiller signed bottles on there in one of th collectors topics. These guys are right on most of the time but tend to be a bit biased to price.
