Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.
Is there any technical problem ya'll can offer if I were to use 1/2" dia. copper tubing (10 ft long) for my worm? It seems bigger than most folks use for a worm but I had it on hand and it fits nicely in a 5 gallon bucket. I'll have a copper 3/4" dia. column (2 foot high) feeding it. Thanks in advance for your advice.
1/2 inch might be harder to coil but other than that should be fine. if 10ft is enough. you said you were going to put it in a 5gal bucket. how big is your boiler. i hope less than 5gal.
The boiler is 4 gallons. The tube came coiled and only needed a little help to fit inside without touching the sides. I too hail from the Magnolia State.
I have had really good luck using 1/2" copper refrigeration tubing for worms. That is the minimum I'll use. It has a large enough cross section to prevent too much back pressure. A lot of guys use the 1/2" hard copper tubing for Liebig condensers. It has a 5/8" od though but not that much difference.
