Ideas for condensor tub ?

Post by Rudi »

Ok I've got 40' of 5/8 copper pipe and need some Ideas for a tub to put it in I'd like somthing traditional an old timber barrel would be good but as yet cant find one for a good price.

Ive got a copper boiler from an old clothes washer but its only 13 gal and not in good condition (Im using a 15 gal keg as a boiler ) it's short and fat.

Any tips for bending a large coil ? I've only bent small 1/4" coils. What was used traditionaly to seal the worm and tub with a timber barrel?

Does the diameter of the worm ie the diameter of the tub have any bearing on performance?

Thanks Rudi

find you a tree bout the size you want get you a 40 foot string an put marks on tree. you got to walk it . pack copper with sand tie one end down then rap better if you got another set of hands. you shootin for minimum 8 coils bein you only got 40 foot they gonna be tight. use a ole steel 30 gal drum . weld you a coller at botom on side for dick spout to come thru. at top put to brackets that you can slide a peace of wood across to hold worm still. you want to be able to take worm out of barel sos you can hide it better an folks aint to curios bout a ole metal barel with hole at botom on side. go to hardware store an go to plumin an get one of the ruber reducer peaces with hose clamps. rekon your coller be bout 3/4 an worm is 5/8 get you one of them
3/4 to 5/8 reducers an it wont leak.
sure the list is long but some used rags otherins used oakum - tared up hemp rope

so im tole

this dam machine ate my first writein an i hate writein . aint far from takein my smoke pole to this dam thang so if you dont here from me i had enough

rember you gonna have to cut that tree down to get worm off then you use the wood to heat kettle.
at botom opsite of dick spout put you a spiket with pipe that runs to center
on ethere side you gonna have to thin brick to hold worm / condencer
off pipe. make sure you solder spiket on sideways or barel wont sit flat an
it gonna be hard to level an gonna wants lope. you gonna want to get washin machine hose so you can hook that to water hose an that to spiket.
at top put you overflow on same side as spiket so if if leak it dont leak in your likker catch

so im tole
