I have been using my 36 inch Bokakob still for several runs now. I am doing a sugar wash. After building sodering with silver soder it I ran it with water and vinegar to clean and test for leaks. Then did several strip runs to collect low wines. During this time I noticed a smell and taste that smells like copper or metal. After a few runs I took out the Chor Boy copper scrubbers and cleaned in vinegar and lots of water.
Starting with everything clean I added one gallon of low wines 80 ABV and one gallon of water to the boiler. Brought up to temp 174F and equalized for 30 minutes. Started to collect and took off first 100ml to toss. After that the next 200ml tasted and smelled good. The next few cuts of 100ml I am getting the taste and smell of metal back again. Is this what the tails should taste like?
How often do I need to clean the scrubbers? After each run? It has been 3 hours now and ABV is still 85
Metal Taste
