cleaning run question

Post by StillLearning1 »

I use union fittings on my still to adjust thumper height. After my last run one of the unions was seized up and I could not break it loose. After lots of frustration I just unsldered the fitting on one end off the pipe.

Now I want to make a run or two and I have not replaced the union. The plan is to just slip the fitting back on and seal it with bread paste. I'm positive this will be effective and safe.

So my question is about cleaning the one area. I didn't use any new flux or solder. Just heated up the one joint and took it off.

Do you guys suggest a full 3 step cleaning or do you think a good vinegar soak and water flush will be ok?

I don't mind doing the proper cleaning.I just don't want to waste my time and materials if they are not needed.
But what the heck do I know.....I am still learning.
