NEW Stainless 5500w ripple element!!!

Post by Moonlighter »

Have you guys seen the new 5500w ripple elements that Camco has come out with in place of the original 02963? They now have a stainless thread section, so no more iron and gunk build up! I am going to give them a try, just curious if anyone else has? Not too badly priced, this is the cheapest place I have seen them and if you contact them directly, they are even cheaper! This was the only downfall I have to my electric setup, glad to see Camco stepped up and fixed the issue   http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-STAINLESS-C ... 1638612588?#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

totally agree MM! However, I have used these guys a couple times. Always goes smooth as butter and they are always willing to help. They have a separate website that has been under construction for a bit. But you can actually google the user name and pull contact info from their web site. If you do its even cheaper than the Ebay price. But the ease of ordering was enough for me to use ebay and pay the extra couple $ on this item. I used mine couple days ago Much better than the 02963 elements i have, no signs of iron build up.

Whats the average life you guys are getting out of these ripple elements? I have an extra on hand but the first seems to be running great as long as I clean it after use.

Been using both of mine for over a year and they still work well.

The bases have turned black after cleaning off the rust... I venture to guess the new SS ones do not do that.

No issues with rust on the Camco 02965. You can grab them on Ebay for about $38.

There are at least 2 resellers on Amazon that have these for under $30. I'm still using the original rusty versions without too much trouble tho. Once they wear out I'll get the ones with a stainless base.

I don't see any vendors on Amazon selling the Camco 02965 at all. I only see 2 Amazon vendors selling the Camco 02962/02963 and Camco 02964.

Here's the two elements I'm referring to. Not labeled as Camco, at least not on the listing, but they look the same to me.

Take the second one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B4L1Q4W" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow It is acutally llisted as ULTRA low watt density, the first is just low watt density. That's the only difference I can find.

As far as I know, the density rating is just a watts per inch measurement. They should be all the same if they have the same total resistance and physical dimensions, which appears to be the case.

valid point mason. I was thinking that size would matter and in my head thinking keg.

The second one in about one inch shorter and a shade narrower.... my bad.

Thanks for the clarification. I assumed you meant Camco. Cool, save $10 per element!

So I had been checking this element out a short while before this post started. The post made me pull the trigger on the amazon one ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B4L1Q4W" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow ). I just ran a birdwatchers today and it worked like a charm. Fit the keg with ease and fired right up. I guess that's all I have to say about that...

Just ordered one myself also. Finally making the conversion to electric on my 15.5 gal keg. Pretty excited that I'll be able to hear my still run vs. listening to that damned propane burner rumble which gets annoying on a long run.

Once you go electric..... you almost never go back.

I picked this one up and have run a few on it so far. t certainly gets the job done and looks pretty in the barrel (well at least with water when I am steam mashing... ) I think you will like it B3 and for $30 what's not to like?!!
