Just goes to show, don't let 'em in the door!
Not only once, but he would have had to let them in TWICE! He deserved to get busted.

Yeah, long time ago but I believe the lesson still holds today.

If a cop comes to your door they need a warrant to search your house. However, if you invite them in and they see stuff you shouldn't have then you can be legally busted.

Never invite a cop into your house. Shut the door behind you and chat outside (even if it's raining).

Same advice for your car - never give permission to have your car searched. Once you give permission anything found is allowed as evidence in court, and you have restricted your defense opportunities. If you refuse permission your attorney at least has an opportunity to have the evidence barred based on illegal search.

Not worried about them finding anything? Three scenarios that do occasionally happen:

1. You bought a used car and there are seeds or other stuff under the seat that you didn't know about.

2. You run into a crooked cop who plants some evidence.

3. Your passenger whom you thought you knew well, took something out of his pocket and stuffed it between the seats.

These kind of things do happen, not often, but they do happen.
