Condenser connection

Post by NattyBoh »

Merry Christmas to the forum. I am in the process of building my second still, a 3", 3 plate flute w a 2" shotgun condenser. Regarding the shotgun condenser, I see that a lot of builds have the condenser built as a modular and attached w tri clamps. Others will solder it. Other than cleaning and repairs, any advantages to having the condenser built modular? Also, I have some 2" male and female adapters... Has anyone ever used these to attach a condenser? Thanks.

Now I am not one that has even ran a flute but any time you can make parts modular it gives you easy options to change things around or add to later. Only draw back is that any modular connection has a potential to leak, which if done correctly will be a non issue.

Now I have seen bokas built with the adapters between the head and column. I would see no reason at all that you couldn't use them in your application.
