ok. call me crazy, - (a search turned up nothing, and no it's not in the parent site either..
Would a modified bokakob design work as a potstill? My foreshot-addled brain says yes.. but only building it will test the concept..
Here's the Idea - turn the condensor head of the bokakob, and make it shorter and wider.. I'm thinking a 12" or 18" piece of 3" copper. The angle plate outlet being about 6-10" from where it mounts onto the boiler. Add a FAT doublecondensor coil in the top.. (1/2" would probably be the ideal)
and drain it through a 1/4" or 3/8" tube, perhaps to a secondary condensor coil in a bucket of water.
You could make it so that you could readily add a 2-4' piece of 2" or 3" to turn it back into the original refluxing design..
Thoughts??
hrmm... Modified Bokakob as a potstill?

i have made a post of the exact thing you are talking about. 3" and all. i like my potstill i have now with a liebig condenser. just an elbow off the boiler reduced down to a coupling to attach the 40" liebig. proof is lower but volume and cooling effenciancy is better. look under my post"my potstill" and check it out. you could buy it if you like.

The it's built properly, the plates that catch the condensed vapor overlap and the liquid will fall to the outlet. It is a pot still when you leave the outlet valve open and not restricting flow back to the column. You can place a double coil within the two inch pipe. No need to use a piece of three inch pipe.

dang. missed that post ricky.. the thread topics here are hard to decipher sometimes.. perhaps a topic-only search selection would help that (noticed it wasn't in the options for a search)
I guess I answered my own question then..
I found my beer-tower, looking at it for a bokakob style short head, but it's brass.. brass ok to use? what about chrome-plated brass?
