Help! Am i going to ruin my first wash?

Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.

Help! Am i going to ruin my first wash?

Post by PlimmerRumDistiller »

Help!!

I have a batch of wash thats at 990 now and stopped bubbling. (Today being Thursday afternoon). My still is not working and i cant get a part until Saturday.

Do i leave it standing for another day and then add turbo clear tomorrow night for 12 hours ready for Saturday or add Turbo clear tonight and leave it for 24 hours settled?

Am i panicking for nothing and either way doesn't matter? Sorry this is the first time i'm doing this.

everything will be ok.

You used a turbo? if so, just wait till about 24 hours before you plan to distill it. Then use the clearing agent.

You have a two part clarifier also? They work great! Just be sure your wash is done. sounds like it is. Wait till friday afternoon and use it then saturday rack off the clear stuff and distill. When you run turbos, a clear wash is key to getting a cleaner product. Take your time running it... good luck.

I have a two part turbo clear and will follow instructions on the package tomorrow as per your suggestion. I was worried it would go off or something left overnight and not active. Panic over. Will let you know how things go.

I'll have questions with the run on Saturday no doubt. :)

If its your first run then do yourself a favor and run some cheap wine or some cheap diluted vodka first. Nothing cleans out a freshly built still like hot alcohol. Even if you think you have cleaned it up spotless, you might still be shocked with what comes out when you first really run it. Its a safety issue for you and also will give you a good idea how to fire and run it so you don't waste that wash you spent good money making. again, good luck and have fun. 8)

This is good advice.

Don't kill that wash with kindness. Think of it as a finished batch of wine, ready for bottling.

Enjoy,
