Working on (buying parts and sketching it out) my controller (220 30A single element with some displays, pump control etc etc) and realized that I didn't have a GFI/GFCI in the plan. My panel's breakers are now obsolete and a GFI version will run me close to $200 USED! The inline Xerox printer cords are like hens teeth so now I am looking at just adding the GFI breaker to the control box.
What's the consensus here at HD for this? I did a search and didn't find many posts.

Good point, but I am not sure what the code would be for "Still Control Panel"
Also not certain my insurance will cover me for an "illegal activity". Really more interested in my safety than anything else.
If I could, with reasonable cost, swap in the 220 GFI breaker into the existing panel I would. Then just plug the controller into the outlet. At the moment I am looking at getting a 'spa pack' and building the GFI into my controller but I am curious no one has mentioned this much before. Surely they have some sort of interrupt circuit running.

If you are looking for a premade solution there are extension cords that have GFCI outlets in them.

Thanks @Fuelmaker. The ones I saw were 200+, so about the same as the breaker. I think the use of the "spa" panel will be cheapest so far.
