Wired up GFCI and new 240v outlet
Wanted to do everything correctly since working with 240v so had my electrician come wire in a separate 240v for my setup. However I am confused now with setting up my controller. I had him install the new 4 prong dryer type outlet so it has its own ground however all the wiring i have seen for the controller only 3 wires are coming in off the 10-3 line. Any help with wiring in a 4 prong dryer outlet would be great. Do i just get the dryer outlet and cap off the extra wire and follow the controller directions with the black/green/white ?

From the receptacle to the controller 4 wires will be needed red, black, white and green.
The red and black are the hot wires. The white is the neutral and the green is ground.
From the controller to the heater only 3 wires are needed red, black and green.
Edited if you don't need 120v in the controller for a fan, the white wire can be caped off.

OK I belive that was my understanding. So I could just buy the dryer plug for outlet I have and run that into the controller and then buy the lenght of 10/3 I need to the kettle?

That sounds like the best option

The one nice thing is I could now just hook up a fan right off the white wire instead of using an old cell charger I guess.

Were I you, I might have my electrician finish the circuit. He can go from a 4 wire outlet to a 3 wire controller, and he would apply a ground to your boiler.ddizzle22 wrote:The one nice thing is I could now just hook up a fan right off the white wire instead of using an old cell charger I guess.
The point is, don't mess around in the electrical arena if you are not 100% comfortable. Understanding what you are doing is of the utmost importance to you first, your family second, and this entire community. Pay the extra few $, it is worth it.

That's exactly what I did. I didn't want to mess around with the 240v hook up. Had him install my own dedicated 240v with the 4 prong setup. As far as the controller and grounding the keg I belive I understand that aspect. I sure didn't understand the 240v dedicated gfci hook up.
