Cheap Fermentation Control $$$$$ Yeah Baby !!!

Post by FreeMountainHermit »

Guys, I've been testing this inexpensive ceramic heater as a heat source in a small closet that I plan on using for a fermentation chamber. Closet interior is roughly 30X30X54 and is not insulated which I don't see to be an issue as it's not against an exterior wall. Found it in a box of misc. junk that had been packed away since moving to the new house.

Never more than 2 degrees plus or minus when the closet is empty an virtually zero variation with a 30 gallon fermenter filled with wash.

I have a few digital temp controllers on hand that I may never use again. DAMN !!! :lolno:

No numerical settings on the dial but it was very easy to adjust to the desired temp which in my testing ranged from 75 to 100 degrees F.

Enjoy.

A buddy of mine has a box for his fermenters and uses a ceramic heater.
He sets the thermostat on the heater to around 90f.
Then plugs the heater into a stc1000 controller.
The controller uses the mash temp.

Overkill unless his heater doesn't have thermostatic control. The constant temps with this heater simply blew me away. I woulda bet $$$$$ against it.

YMMV.
