Oyster Shells

Post by ShineonCrazyDiamond »

I have been reading again, lol. So, I am not an alarmist, so I just want to ask if anybody has ever come across this when researching oyster shells. I just read and ask.

"3. Oyster Shell Calcium
While it may seem like a more natural form of calcium, and thus higher in absorbable content, oyster shell calcium, as well as dolomite and bone meal, are difficult to quality-control and have been found to show levels of lead toxins. In general, these “natural forms” of calcium should be avoided."

I'm not saying I'm throwing out my oyster shells tomorrow, just want to share info. Is this a concern?

Yeah, haha. A little on the nose, eh?
Some of the comments straight out call the doc a crook.

This seems to be a more reputable source, with cited studies.

Yeah just did a quick google search for oyster shells lead and there was a ton of stuff on there all suggesting trace amounts in oyster shells but all in the supplement field. If its in the shells, wouldn't it be a problem with the meat also? Maybe the amounts are too small to be bothered with? Gonna have to keep looking into this, like you say, before we toss the shells.
