max temp for oaking?
I got some stuff oaking in a jar outside in a steel ammo can in the sun. Low temp is 60 degrees at night, and I checked the temp when it was in the sun all day and it was up to 130+. How hot is too hot?

Too hot has to be when it reaches the boiling point of the likker.
I regularly hold mine over 140F, but mine is controlled within a degree.
Your main worry should be changes in pressure and volume. If the jar is too full and is sealed tightly, it will break. Only filling it 2/3s full will give it plenty of room for expansion and some needed oxygen.
If it isn't sealed, the daily changes will pump a lot of your hard won likker up Angels arses every day. While they might appreciate that, it won't help you keep your drinking jug full.
