I am about to start my cleaning procedures for my new still, water then water/vinegar then sacrificial run. So do I put anything in the thumper during the water and water/vinegar run? From what I've gathered about how the thumper works is that it can " redistill" what is in the thumper because the thumper contents have a higher abv than the boiler so it requires less energy to boil. Therefore the heated vapor coming over from the boiler has enough excess energy to reboil what is in the thumper. But during the cleaning run there will be zero abv so The thumper wont have the advantage of a higher abv and a lower boil point. So I'm afraid if I charge the thumper with anything it is going to slowly fill up and then overflow.
Am I way off on this?
I tried finding a feed that might help but failed so if I need to dig deeper please let me know.
Thanks.
