I wonder if the revenoors actually believe their own nonsense sometimes.

“Moonshine is romanticized in folklore and the movies. The truth though is that moonshine is a dangerous health issue and breeds other crime,” ATF Special Agent James Cavanaugh said in a statement.

“The illegal moonshine business is fraud on taxpayers in Tennessee and across the country,” he said.
What a knucklehead James is.

I think they do believe - it is how they self-justify putting an old man who hasn't harmed a soul into a cage. Believing is how they manage to look into the mirror without cringing at the site of the true monster. Or perhaps I am an old cynic?

I get kinda ticked or peeved when I read about idiots that blow off garage doors making moonshine. Were these idiots lighting the distillate into a flame and then tossing it in the collection - boom! :(

The one thing that will stop hobby distilling from ever becoming legal in Canada are idiots like this. We're pretty liberal here, but when it comes to fire safety we have 10 laws for every idiot that burns down their house recklessly.

The gov't likes their tax dollars too much.

Can't have a bunch of moonshiners out there cuttng into their profits of $27 per proof gallon (correct me if I'm wrong on the amont of taxes.

For every hundred gallons of shine thats nearly $2500 out of the governments profits... if a big time shiner makes and distributes a thousand gallons a year, well thats a lot of money out of their pockets.

i doubt the highest amount of tax evasion is occurring in popcorn's still. atf should move on to the bigger fish, but the term moonshining has some bite to it and gives them reason to go on walks in the woods.

Oh yes I agree w/ ya..I also agree w/ GBM that if some of these idiots would start lookin into diffrent ways to keep their operations safe, the government might just legalize home distillation of spirits..coneheads!
