I've heard some people say 350, and some say 400. Some say 2 hours, some say 4 hours.
What's your preferred temp, and for how long, and why?
Thanks

I split the difference an did 380 for 2 hours and it worked out well.
If you look at the chart for taste at 350 will be more sweet... 380-400 is were the vanilla peak occurs.

I find that 90 minutes in the oven will toast a 1"X1" stick all the way through evenly.
More time in the oven beyond that doesn't seem to change the oak any more.
Lately I've been doing about 400f.

Don't know what the temp is, but I toast until it starts smelling like vanilla

I do it like Shady ....rely on smell and the way it looks, That way you can get different toast levels from the same batch by heating some for longer.
Snapping a couple of sticks in half and looking at the inside will tell you a lot.
