Here's a stupid story:
I am making a new still using a 50L keg as a boiler. I knocked the valve out of place with my blockbuster, and then couldn't get it out! The valve wouldn't fit through the top, and I thought the top was welded in, so my only choice seemed to be to cut it off. With a crappy old hacksaw.
So after hours of labour I finally get the bastard off... only to discover that I could have just unscrewed it and saved myself maybe 3 hours of toil and frustration.
The moral of the story is that you can unscrew the valve from a keg.
P.S. I hung up the valve, and the pipe it was attached to (now quite bent), in my garage as a trophy.
