I've made, and am making different liqueurs. Right now I'm hooked on Jimbos Ginger Liqueur. I'm wondering if there is a shelf life for liqueurs. I have a gallon and 1/2 of vodka at 130 Proof and after I make the Liqueur I'll have 3 gallons of finished product, and I want store it for the future enjoyment.
Is there a shelf life for liqueurs?
JBC-
There is certainly a fairly short life for cream liqueurs though you were probably not thinking of them. I have enjoyed a lot of liqueurs maybe twenty years old but there is probably an ideal age less than that which may vary for different drinks...
Woodworm, dry rot, wet rot, fungal attack, will all shorten the life of your shelf
Just give it a decent tug every year or so, preservative treat and use a decent poyurethane varnish, should stop your bottles falling down and breaking !
