Liqueur

Post by JellybeanCorncob »

I've made, and am making different liqueurs. Right now I'm hooked on Jimbos Ginger Liqueur. I'm wondering if there is a shelf life for liqueurs. I have a gallon and 1/2 of vodka at 130 Proof and after I make the Liqueur I'll have 3 gallons of finished product, and I want store it for the future enjoyment.
Is there a shelf life for liqueurs?

There is certainly a fairly short life for cream liqueurs though you were probably not thinking of them. I have enjoyed a lot of liqueurs maybe twenty years old but there is probably an ideal age less than that which may vary for different drinks...

Of course there's a shelf life for 35% spirit.

Woodworm, dry rot, wet rot, fungal attack, will all shorten the life of your shelf

Just give it a decent tug every year or so, preservative treat and use a decent poyurethane varnish, should stop your bottles falling down and breaking ! :)
