Well, rolling on the floor in hysterical contemptuous laughter is the only appropriate response. The internet poses a threat to the health of Australians who use directions to build and operate stills.
The design is not always good, alterations are made by the builder and because he has trouble sourcing the correct parts and operating instructions from the other side of the world, it may not be appropriate
for North Queensland.
Home distillation exists in Australia because of the ready access to information on the Internet.
Brew shops represent the only structure able to give correct information for the particular piece of equipment. We believe that licensing of brew shops and staff is the answer.
Meanwiile, it is still a criminal offence to distil alcohol in Australia without a licence

I'm infamous in my social circle as the skeptic and cynic. But I am a constructive one.blanikdog wrote:I entirely agree Hook, But I don't really believe that they would be trying to drum up business. What a cynical thought.![]()

He he. I had exactly the same experience in one local brew shop, asked for DAP, blank bovine stare, then I asked for yeast nutrients, and he pulled out a Turbo!blanikdog wrote:I went to my local home brewing shop for some DAP and the bloke just looked at me like those cows who look at trains. Had no idea what I was talking about!!!![]()
Not a bad idea there, tater.tater wrote:hell of it is -- trash like thats printed by fokes like that ( and law enforcement). No one in the know prints anything back so readers take whats printed as fact. Some of you fellas who are gifted in the art of gab should write us up a nice true full informed paper on home distillation. Then those interested could have them printed in newspapers maybe sent to local news stations.
I wonder how the many past generations of distillers ever managed without "knowledgable" brew shops around. I have stopped going to mine for anything but corks because all they know about is Turbo's and essences. You would think these folk would be at the top of their game, but sadly not.To suggest that the online forums like Homedistiller and those at Yahoo don't know what they are doing, and only the brew/still shops can offer quality design stills and stilling advice, is so far from the truth it is almost criminal. The reality is the complete opposite.
