Turbo Yeast?
I haven't seen or read any opinions on turbo yeast. Seem true distillers frown on it? Opinions?

Re: Turbo Yeast?
Ok, Didn't realize this topic was so beat up. I've done only 4 runs so far, and thought it tasted pretty good at 110 proof. Next run will be with red star I guess, maybe Champaign yeast for a fruit wash? Thanks for not bashing me from the start. I remember my grandpa's still from just a little kid, and as I grew up he taught me to brew beer, but never had the chance to distill with him. Found a bottle of congiac he made from 1972. Man was it good!

I don't know if I'm laughing more at the question or the remarkable restraint shown by everyone.Whitecap72 wrote:Ok, Didn't realize this topic was so beat up.
Just a few months ago, I got here after "learning the craft" on youtube and elsewhere.
Luckily I started reading before asking and ending up deleting a bunch of stuff from my Amazon cart like Turbo Yeast and Airlocks.
Welcome and good luck!

Before HD I fell for all the bad advice hook, line, and turbo. And was suckered into all the gimmicks.
Couldn't figure out why my jet fuel was so appalling, so I'll be the last one to bash someone's turbo question.
-----
Whitecap72, I found like others here that turbo yeast is an expensive inferior product.
It is yeast pushed to work to its limits while on a methamphetamine diet. Stressed yeast = bad flavor.
Trust your Uncle fizzix on this one.

Exactly so RWHb - and I thought myself that it de-fused the potential situation quite well

Ok, despite all the burning on the turbo. I haven't got a single suggestion on what to use on whiskey, and sugar fruit mashes.

You didn't ask that question. If you read forums that may answer those questions you would not be askingWhitecap72 wrote:Ok, despite all the burning on the turbo. I haven't got a single suggestion on what to use on whiskey, and sugar fruit mashes.

- Oh btw anything containing a large portion of sugar is not a "mash" it's a "wash"
