I used to do a lot of lapidary work, and I remembered I had a vibratory flat lap. I've been experimenting with fermenting cakes, cookies and cupcakes and the sludge that is left still has a lot of beer left in it. I saw other threads where folks were using other shaking devices with a 600 mesh bucket filter (which I also had from doing biodiesel), so I decided to give it a shot. It takes time, but it works very well and needs no attention other than a little stir now and then. I end up with a pretty thick cake. I think corn or grain would go right through, but my goop takes about 4 hours. I recovered about a gallon using this. Pretty cool.
That's a great use for that vibrator.
The bucket or drum filters work great with a little shaking.
I use a 55 gallon drum filter, I think the 400 micron, and anymore I just shake it by hand like panning for gold with about a half bucket of mash at a time and it works great.
Shouting and shooting, I can't let them catch me...
