I make my Sambucca from 40% alcohol and Aniseed oil ( Pimpinella anisum , the Mediterranean oil) not Asian Star Aniseed )
but find it hard to come by
because the oil is hard to come by , I was thinking of steeping the seeds in the Alcohol to get the genuine stuff
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ANISE-200-S ... SwPc9Wyifn" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
the seeds are readily available
I assume the Mediterraneans did not go to the bother of distilling the seeds to get the , another step , it may work
do not know about bitterness etc , and a lot seeds to get a small yield

Re: Aniseed oil for Sambucca
Have you done any experiments. I am very intrested in the same thing. So far I have had best luck with liquorice roots when making tinctures. Anise seed didn't work out right. And Star Anise simply didn't give me much taste. But perhaps my ABV was to high there (80%).
Always impatient. But learning.
