Angels Envy

Post by Chauncey »

tried some recently at one of my regular bars

i was quite impressed

kentucky straight bourbon aged in port wine barrels.

its pretty easy on the mouth, imo.

if you see a bottle, give it a shot. price is kinda hefty though afaik.

Has something happened with them recently?
I used to pick that up for US $40 - $50 at the local store.

Well, if you’ve got a stockpile, your retirement is assured. Look at this: https://www.bottlehampton.com/spirits/A ... w4444725rt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

That's got to be something limited so they jacked the price up. The straight bourbon used to be just over 40 by me. Creeped up over 50 now. Their rye, which I'm way too cheap to try, has been at 100 every time I e seen it.

I picked up an Angel's Envy several years ago, disappointing, very headsy! May have just been the batch. That bottle has gathered a lot of dust...
Their rye is a whole different story, rum casks finished. It is utterly delicious and the nose is amazing. I can nurse a 2 tablespoon pour in a Glencairn for an hour with a big stupid looking grin on my face with no trouble. I have trouble nursing a beer for five minutes.
Angel's Envy rye is dessert in a glass, somewhere between a pecan sticky bun split and grilled in brown butter on a flattop grill and creme brûlée. It is good enough I try to keep a spare or even two because it has been very hard to find. I don't bat an eye at $90-95. Great stuff!
