Gopd day,
I have a question. The sugar water that you add to the 500ml 90 ABV, to what ABV does it dilute it to?

Re: Ginger
Well, using the parent site calculator:
300g sugar into 700ml water results in 890ml of sugar syrup with an SG=1.129 (roughly a 20%ABV, if fermented).
Then, adding the syrup to the alcohol:
500ml of 90%ABV + 890ml of syrup = 1390ml,
of which contains:
90% x 500ml = 450ml of (theoretically pure alcohol).
Then, the resulting ABV is:
450ml alcohol / 1390ml total = 32.4%ABV.
Got it?

Re: Ginger
That looks easy when you say it SS.
Where do I find that calculator?
I will definitely use your explanation to do the rest.

Here: https://homedistiller.org/wiki/index.php/htm/calc ... gar_sg.htm
You’ve got to adjust the “final volume” until the water required equals what you added the sugar to. Kinda’ a “reverse calculation”.

Re: Ginger
If I have 1L of 60 % ABV and I want to bring it down to 43% ABV, I have to add 395ml of water.
As I understood the previous post, I can add my simple syrup of 150ml and top that up with water to 395ml and I will still be at the 43% ABV mark. Because ABV is Alcohol By Volume. So if you have the calculated volume then the % will be at that volume regardless of what has been added.
Yes I have also found that the alcohol meter does not work when sugar is added.
Thanks SS, I really appreciate it.
Sorry for the post Hijack. I did manage to make the liqueur and wow, it is very good.
