Mornin all!
well after a number of UJSM brews, a few stripping runs, and my first "low-n-slow" spirit run on the weekend, I now have 4 x 5.0L demijohns at home full of 65% spirit waiting to be flavoured. I am not interested in using cordial flavourings and would prefer to create my flavours from raw ingredients.
I have earmarked one to receive 8-10 of Pint's sticks, a couple of dried apricots, 1 dozen raisins and a small piece of orange rind.
The other three I am looking for some other peoples favoured recipes to try out.
My favoured bourbon is ummmmmmmm........ bourbon. From Beam of any colour, to Turkey of any kind, to Makers, to Elijah, to Woodford to Blantons, I don't care. They're all different and I like them all.
I don't necessarally want to copy a brand, but I am interested in making something unique that fits the bourbon profile.
I'd really appreciate hearing what you guys have tried and liked (and importantly what your friends have liked)
Cheers,
Scott

Blanik is just being polite to my ujsm
The one i sent him was a corn and malt barley ujsm, but plenty of people would rather drink my corn ujsm than beam.
The only thing i put in it is toasted oak sticks and 12 ml pure maple syrup to the litre. The rest is Uncle Jessies recipe, carefull stilling and cuts, and the oak.
The rest is just your white dog you already have. You can try all those other flavours, but if i was you i'd just try small samples. Also try some just with toasted oak, i think you'll be suprised what the wood can add

Hmmm maple syrup eh? I finished the bottle last night with just a bit of Pepsi, punkin. It was even better than I thought.
I guess you want the bottle back soon.

Mine is corn, rolled rye and malted barley, so pinto sticks and maple syrup it is (do ya have a preferred brand?)
Also do you use pints 2 sticks to the litre ratio?
Well that's the second bottle taken care of.
All my white oak sticks are charred to Pint's method so I might try just toasted oak shavings and Jim Beam chunks from the home brew shop for bottle three.
All thats left is bottle 4!!
Cheers
