Gday guys,
i have a couple of q's regarding the best containers to catch the distillate in.
At present, i have a ordinary plastic bucket under my spirit outlet, which i guess has done okay; considering it cops 70-80% ethanol.
But recently on this forum i saw a someone warning not to store alcohol above 100 proof(50%) in plastic containers.
Can someone please put my poisoning paranoia to rest?! or worsen it!! one of the two!
If plastic...is bad and will kill me, can someone plz recommend a suitable container to catch strong ethanol in.
Thanx in advance

i prefer glass for all my spirits. some plastic is good some bad. some say PP is fine but others have got off flavours from it as it may have plasticisers in it. best bet is to get some 95% and soak a piece of your plactic in it for a month. then dilute it and see if it goes cloudy or has a bad smell.
i would guess the alcohol you are drinking usually does you more harm than the minute traces of plastic you are drinking

the modern american moonshiners... not the hobbysts... the actual inheritors of american commercial moonshining, use plastic one gallon milk jugs almost exclusively.
that doesn't mean it's ok... lots of them also won't drink their own booze.

best bet is to steer clear.
find yourself some glass jugs.
