I just priced out a NAGF230 - Federal Pioneer 30 Amp Double Pole GFCI Circuit Breaker
$647.70 CAD.... I realize that is only $500 in real dollars but it is a big-ticket item for me.
What are you guys doing in your home to keep from killing yourself with a short?
Thanks,
t.

Running on properly wired setup.. regular wire size and breaker for the task..
A GFCI is not a requirement for operation of a still..

In case everything else fails, my still has an earth strap connected to a pipe in the ground.

Why this gfci? If it's what your circuit panel takes, you can always install a regular 30A breaker and install a separate panel that uses inexpensive GFCI breakers.

GFCI spa panels.
Ya get a weather proof metal box with a gfci breaker already in it for around $100

Used GFCI spa panels aren't too hard to come by, got mine for nothing and saved it from being on the road side.
You should have a GFCI, too much water around to be safe, and for your life its a basic precaution.

I got my spa GFCI on Amazon.
240VAC 50 Amps and IIRC it was under $100.
Having the knowledge and experience to correctly hook it up, priceless!
(I was a card carrying electrician in a former life, but that was too much like work so I became a computer guy)

It seems odd to me that a whole subpanel assembly is less than a single branded breaker.
Thanks for the tip.
