Macerating or Vapour Infusing

Post by Popeye »

Hi Guys, my idea is to create this space where we can discuss and share experiences with our botanical's flavor extraction.

In your experience, which botanicals are better to macerate and which one are better to vapour infusing?

On my last run I used Juniper, Coriander, Fresh lemon peel, Liquorice, Cardamom and Allspice(named Jamaican pepper in my country) with a total of 33.9gr/lt of final product.
I used all of them in my gin basket with a very good taste and aroma in the product, just had little haze problems in some bottles cause I tried to dilute with mineral water  .

Do you think is a good idea to use only the gin basket or there are some botanicals that are better to macerate some days, or maybe first to macerate and then put them in the basket?

Regards!
