Molasses in California, Bay Area
Trying to find a better source of molasses supply, can anyone point me to a location where they have procured molasses at a good price?

I bought a gallon of Chef's Quality Golden Unsulphured molasses from Restaurant Depot in SoCal about six months ago. I wanna say it was $12. There's a RD in San Francisco close to the 280/101. They are a membership store only, but because of the Wuhan virus, are open to the public.

How did it work for you? I just bought a couple gallons of the same stuff from their chain up here in the PNW but haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet. think it was 19.99 up here.

Not as good a price as $12 but better than $19

Tractor Supply Company has Evolved Habitats blackstrap feed molasses on sale right now for $6.99/Gallon. Makes a good drop.
🎱 The struggle is real and this rabbit hole just got interesting.

Absolutely monumental flavors. I had to triple distill it to get a rum I could tolerate. Big, big taste and aromas. Also, I had to age it in glass with oak staves for 2+ years. Now, it’s over 3 years old and still has a big rum flavor (rum enthusiasts really prize it too).
Now, I don’t mean to dissuade hobbiests from trying the deer lick molasses. Just understand that the molly is very “coarse”, and at 82* brix, there is a lot of sugar in it. Just don’t try to push your O.G. too high and it will behave just fine. It does, however, finish with a relatively high F.G. due to the non-fermentables in it.
But, at $7 USD for a gallon, it certainly is worth a try. So, go for it!

Not to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol is a solution.

Webstaurant is in Pennsylvania. Paying the shipping to the Bay Area (or anywhere outside of the state) of their insanely inexpensive online 'bait' priced products makes no sense.RocketSurgeon wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 12:58 pm WebstaurantStore.com - 1 gallon blackstrap sulfur-free molasses $6.99

Incorrect. The 5 gallon bucket delivered to San Fransisco is: $13.16 a gallon. (31.99 + 33.82 shipping)/5 = $13.16 delivered.Twisted Brick wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 1:41 pmWebstaurant is in Pennsylvania.
