New ccvm build
Hey guys so my still building adventure should start this week I'm going to be going with a ccvm only thing I'm having issues getting my head around is the RC coil length I've read read and read more ATM I've built one coil out of corrugated stainless flex pipe but I have no idea if it will be big enough or if I need to buy some copper pipe and bend my own , still specs are column is 2inch 1.2 meters long 1.1will be packed with scrubbies going to a 2x2x2 tee then a 2inch 90 bend to my 640mm shotgun also 2inch (haven't decided weather 4 or 5 1/2in pipes ) still will be run of a 35l digiboil for the time being until I get my keg built I'll be heating up with 2300w than knocking back to 1900ws to run. so back to the RC length the coil I have ATM is made out of 1/2in csst length from tip of cold finger to end coil is only 20cm will this be big or do I need to buy a few meters of 3/8 copper and bend a longer coil cheers

I used a 6' piece of csst and it knocks down everything every thing I've thrown at it with a 65000 btu propane burner under the keg. The csst was sold as 3/8 but the od is 1/2. Fits in a 10" section of 2" copper above the T with room to spare
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it!

20 cm should go if you don't push the heat excessively since it has a good diameter. You could take a test heating only water and see if it works, if it goes well with water it will go even better with alcohol.

gday whybeawino
Your design sounds very similar to my CCVM. I bought a 2m length of csst that was 1/2” OD. I could not coil it tight enough to fit in the 2” spool section so I made it in to a twist. I wove a couple of ss potscrubbers in the twist so that there’s good contact with the inner walls of the column. This setup easily knocks down everything at 1650W (240 VAC).

Once I get to my house from office I will calculate and let you know my RC Coil. No need to buy copper, because corrugated stainless flex has more surface area I will let you know.
