Been trying to replicate this Banana/Vanilla "rum" that comes from Ma Doudou for years and just can't pin it. Per the video below, she starts with about 1/3 "secret syrup" and then adds banana and bottled rum....then lets it sit in the sun for a while. Any thoughts or hints on the "secret syrup." I've just been doing a vanilla-infused simple syrup of around:
1 pt white sugar
1 pt brown sugar
2 pts water
It turns out great, but it doesn't have anything near the viscosity of her "rum." Would love any pointers or thoughts here!

molasses or honey? you see at 1:03 it stick to the glass like honey. Thought rum used molasses. don't know if molasses has that same consistency as honey.
