After a long debate between pot still and a reflux column, I decided on the reflux (mainly hoping for versatility).
I'm following the plans as outlined on the homedistiller website. My main concern is this:
In making the holes in the 1.5" caps to allow the passage of the condenser core, I am concerned that imperfect cutting of the holes will make the soldering difficult or impossible for it to run without leaks. I am tring to do some fine dremel work to make the holes perfectly round, but I'm sure it's impossible to do perfectly. Will silver solder around this imperfect joint be sufficient, or should I change tactics? Is there any other sealant that I should use at these joints in addition to the soldering? I'll keep plugging away unless someone can offer some wisdom. Keep in mind, I'm learning as I am going, so I probably don't know many tricks of the trade.
