Different place, we have a porch that's raised up, and a lower patio. 8m or so from the street and not on a corner. but yeah i will never forget that shit.

My relief had a family emergency so now I'm here till 6pm. Came on at 2am last night. Had a few customers come thru since I posted. Made about 160 USD from 2 to 10. Since 10am I've made another 5. People will start showing up when I'm ready to roll.

jayzuz, who'd you piss off to get that shift? everybody's hammered by 2am and don't wake up until at least 10 the next day....hard to turn good numbers in those hours.
tell the tourists you got AC and cold ice. that will prolly help!

AC and cold ice/beer is all the advertising I need as a drunken stumbling tourist….

Ended up on a double. My shift was 2am till 10am and my reliefs father passed away so had to cover for her. 2am till 6pm. Back covering again. I never do dayshifts. It picks up closer to 4pm. My graveyards are jumping tho. Nothing like a town with 24hour bars.

My uncle used to provide bar equipment (everything but the drinks basically) to local pubs. One of his clients used to run a bar in Glasgow but had now moved to Swindon. In Glasgow while a given bar could not be open 24 hours, there were no restrictions on opening times, just how long you could be open. The bars had all organised amongst themselves (over time I imagine) so that in Glasgow, you could get a drink at any time of day or night. This guy used to open up at 6am. And at 6am there would already be two or three customers banging on the door to get in. Some were just early rising alcoholics who needed their dram before work. Some were on a permanent pub crawl which would presumably end when their liver packed in for good. The stress of having already drunk people demanding alcohol at a time when "normal" people would be sitting down to breakfast, eventually took it's toll and the guy packed in and headed south to the relative safety of an 11pm forced closing time!

I work at 2 of our company's six bars. One of the six closes and I work there, published time is 2am but if I got business I stay open till whenever they stop spending.

There's never a line waiting at the door at 10am because there are 1000 24 hour bars.

Hard to believe it's been FORTY years since I lived there!
I keep up a bit by watching "Nightwatch" about NOPD, NOFD & paramedics working graveyard til 4 in the morning.
I know it's "embellished" but the accents aren't fake & simple reality down there is pretty damned funny!

I (barely) remember going to see Jimmie Rivers play over on St. Charles back in the ‘80’s. I was in engineering school up at UNO then. We’d party until early morning and somehow make it home (Slidell) for a couple hours sleep before heading back to the Lakefront. Oh, to be young…

Yea i know that feeling. I work late on Thursdays and have to go take my pop to the grocery and doctor and shit in Slidell aka "tha dell" every Friday early. Good thing the old man used to be the same way or I'd catch hell haha.

In other news I told someone "i owe ya one" when they covered a shift for me and they called that "one" in so I'm sitting at the seahorse saloon on a dead ass dayshift.

Then there was the time I worked all night in the bakery and stayed awake most of the day and then went back to work...

It's bad enough when you hear people that are not there talking;
but when you have a whole conversation with them you are definitely overtired.

Our shifts are only 8 hours so I definitely get my rest in-between even if it's only 4 to 6 hours
