The very reason (US) domestic rum is struggling to find an identity.
A 750 of Wray & Nephew is 22 bux in my market.
You just can't hardly beat the depth with any measure of skill they already posses.
It's a staple in every Tiki bar for a reason.

Re: Wray & Nephew
I’m not at all a fan of the W&N overproof that I tried, but I haven’t been impressed by the domestic rums either. I enjoy trying (semi)local stuff, but all the North Carolina rum I’ve had has either been uninspired or way too funky for my taste. Maybe I just don’t know how to appreciate good rum yet. Then again, maybe that’s another part of the domestic producers’ problem… lots of people don’t know how to appreciate the good stuff, and you can’t compete on the cheap stuff.

Different price point, but Smith & Cross is another box that should be checked too if your into Plummer and Wedderburn grading systems.

Can’t remember the brand but years ago we were in St. Martin and bought bottles of rum that I thought was not bad and they were almost as cheap as I could make it. A Caribbean Rum that said it was bottled some where in the US. Like I said few years ago and my memory escapes me.

Not just rum, nearly any spirit. Little guys just can't compete on price. Big guys make quality products. By and large small places get by because people try to support local, not because they think their products are that great. It's nearly the opposite of craft beer.
There's one local place that makes absolutely horrible products. I have no idea how it is still in business other than locals keeping it going. There wasn't a single product of theirs that I could stand. But it's still there.

That's disappointing...
There are two types of people in this world.
1. Those that can extrapolate from incomplete information.

Does they name rhyme with giggle?
For the record, in the same neighborhood as the distillery that one assumes rhymes with giggle,,, is this other outfit whose name rhymes with Bucky. They are doing things quite correctly and in my view making a premium finished product. And that is no bullshit.
Given a legitimate operating budget, I reckon they have legacy potential.
