Butyric acid supplement

Post by Bolverk »

Howdy all,

I've been searching and searching but can't find the thread I originally saw this used in...
Screenshot_20230421-085323_Samsung Internet.jpg
If you know the thread and can link me to it, or if you're the dude that used it can you let me know what quantities you tried? I've added them into spirit runs and thumper with high wines and can't taste or small any appreciable difference. My guess is that I'm just not using enough, but I don't want to go to far and ruin a batch.

I appreciate the help,
B

Not really, I also tried mixing it with high proof heads and high tails and I dont really notice any interesting smells.

May just have to get lab grade and go that way. I suspect the supplements are just too low in active ingredients to make a difference.

Is hydrochloric acid the same like table salt?

So perhaps calcium magnesium butyrate is not the same like butyric acid?

I can suggest an alternative source for it if that helps at all?

In the UK in the specimen carp angling world, we use N Butyric acid as an "Attractor" in bait so you can buy it from fishing bait suppliers.

Yes, it smells like vomit.

I'm very confident that it's an alternate naming thing in different industries, as the chemical formula appears to be the same for all the variously named versions.
I've also bought it as butanoic.

Synonym
butyric acid, n-butyric acid, n-butanoic acid, propylformic acid, ethylacetic acid, butanic acid, 1-propanecarboxylic acid, butyrate, 1-butyric acid, buttersaeure

Maybe they are probiotics that produce Butyric acid?? If so, pitch into your fermenter after the yeast have competed the lag phase.

Found this in my outbox. Didn't know how to forward it.

You can get reagent grade for 30 bucks 100ml or 1000ml for 70. If you can buy a liter for 70 and split it up with a few people it makes it worthwhile to play with.
