Best method to clean tools from motor oil, grease etc.

Little or nothing to do with distillation.

What is your thoughts? Any distilled product good :D or something else? What you use?

How did this come to mind anyway? I just grabbed the tools to open keg connectors, and oh boy, they were dirty. I should have cleaned them right after using them to fix the car last year...

Yeah you should have. Lol. I use my foreshots jug to soak a rag and wipe down my wrenched and sockets.
My distilling kit gets used more than my tools so I have lots of solvents.

wd40 is a good grease loosener .
was it used to rotate the rear brake piston out of the way by any chance? , that sounds like a job for a keg coupler tool . bicycle bottom bracket tool sometimes works too if its a good fit

Thx, have to test that.

Nope, alternator belt snapped. Changed it in freezing temperature outside (not fun!). It didn't help long, maybe 400 miles / 600km and it snapped again, this time few extra parts came too with it. :) Actually it was alternator which was broken and it gave last breath on motorway. Gladly my friend knows this stuff and changed timing belt too when alternator was replaced.

Just little bit OT, like to know what people use and the story is the point here. Clean your tools if you like to do in house stuff (so called clean works), but you know, i'm little bit lazy these days, maybe aging has something to do with it.

I have the two tools (a pipe wrench and a spanner) I need for my still right next to the stillsite. Took them out of my collection of tools just for my still. Just two tools, so that is no big deal.
I once cleaned a chain of a chainsaw by soaking in foreshots/heads and it worked quite well. So if I need another pipe wrench I could clean it with some collected foreshots.

i use contact cleaner or brake clean depending on how dirty and what it is

i soak my ratchets and ratchet spanners in atf (auto trans fluid)

but i get that stuff free from work

i use foreshots with a bit of dish soap for cleaner but havn't tried for tools

my car was struggling to start recently and I found it was the battery by testing it with a multimeter as it starts .
i'm so glad all I had to do was buy a new battery and connect it rather than buy a new alternator or starter motor and fit it outside .its pretty wet and muddy right now

all my foreshots usually get used for starting the fire or cleaning windows .
