Hello from Holland

Post by Grain »

Hello all.
I'm Grain from Holland. Years ago I had a glass laboratory still set. I then made tasty alcohol. But the set was lost and I left the hobby for years.I made a lot of beer, but I miss distilling. I now have a lot of equipment for brewing beer, including making the basis for distilling. I want to convert a 50 liter stainless steel beer barrel into a multifunctional distillation set. I want to make whisky, gin, jenever and rum, but also pure alcohol. I hope to learn a lot from you and will do a lot of reading first.

Welcome Grain.

You've chosen the right place to come and learn, and you've also chosen a great base to build a still from, that will make everything you are interested in. (gin/genever will be a bit more involved)

I look forward to hearing about your journey

Welcome Grain. As Moose said your in the right place and your choice of building a keg set up will give a more versatile set up at a cheaper cost than anything you can buy off the shelf. Make it modular and Bob's you uncle.

Welcome from another lowlander, though I moved out of the country years ago. Lots of good info in the build section if you are going to diy your still. And a wealth of information regarding the spirits you mentioned in the respective subforums. Beer making experience gives you a great head start when making whiskey or other ag’s.
There is much to learn and much to enjoy.

Luckily I am not from Holland, but from another part of the Netherlands.

This forum is very useful, but I wonder if you ever tried the two Dutch fora. The greatest advance of these is, that practical help is close at home, while help on this forum is very good, but not at hand, so merely theoretical.
