Medicinal grade oils and distilled water
Does anyone have a budget (under $160) still brand you’d recommend that is good for making medicinal grade oils and distilled water? I need to make 2 gallons of distilled water per run. I’ve looked at copper ones, but was wondering if the steel ones with the copper tubing are just as good?

copper helps to remove sulfur compounds from fermented solutions. That is not an issue with distilling water or oils. I would recommend going with stainless steel. Easier to maintain and costs less. The only exception might be the product condenser where the better heat conductivity of copper might make sense. But even there you can upsize the stainless condenser and still do the job for less.

For less than $160 you could buy a RO/DI unit. That's Reverse Osmosis with a Deionizer. That would easily produce 0 TDS water, but more efficiently and with less fuss.
If you intend to use the same still to extract the oils AND make distilled water, I suppose you could. Cleaning the oils from all surfaces between each distilled water run would be a real pain in the ass. I'd rather make water in one unit and do oils in another.

Tending to agree ,it will be hard to clean oil from still .
Two stills or just buy the distilled water from supermarket.

Thank you for the information I didn’t consider how much of a pain it would be to clean the oils out of the still each time I needed to make water. Sorry this reply is so late I never got notified about your response to my post.Salt Must Flow wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 10:02 am For less than $160 you could buy a RO/DI unit.
